Deportees head for Tilston Music Club Tilston is set for a musical extravaganza on Wednesday June 29 when acclaimed line up The Deportees are welcomed at the village Music Club in the Carden Arms.
Mick Green, Adrian Dear and Graham Bellinger play guitars, mandolin, mandocello, bouzouki and banjo as well as harmonica and melodeon - almost entirely acoustic, but with some subtle electric guitar touches.
And most of all they sing - three voices finding unexpected harmonies in a mix of old and recent songs from both sides of the Atlantic. Some are written by themselves, others by their heroes like Woody Guthrie, Richard Thompson, Hank Williams, John Martyn, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, Tom Waits and good old Trad Arr. Chester based and regulars at the city's Alexander's bar, the trio also play in France and Holland.
With the release of a live CD 'Three In A Bar' magazine Folkwords said: "If you like broad spectrum string driven folky rock … then you'll like this. The blend is American roots and English folk, and a damn fine blend it is too…."
Club host Geoff Edwin-Scott said: "We are delighted to welcome The Deportees to Tilston for the first time. This should be a night of tremendous music. You'll hear songs to join in with, songs to make you think, songs to move you and songs to get you moving."
The show starts at 8pm. Admission is £6.00 and tickets can be booked with Geoff Edwin-Scott on 07751 292288 or pay on the door.
