| Time Travel in Tilston It's another trip back in time for Tilston Music Club on Wednesday 4 November. The popular Times Bandits return to bring music down the ages to the club with their novel mix of violin, melodeon, flute, hurdy-gurdy, sax and bouzouki combined with electric bass and vocals. Named after the 'Pythonesque' Terry Gilliam film, the band 'raid and pilfer' 500 years of musical history to perform renaissance dance tunes and early European music combined with contemporary Anglo-European material, folk tunes and self-written songs. Club host Geoff Edwin-Scott said: "We expect a great night from this very talented band that always receives a warm welcome in Tilston." The Time Bandits perform at the Tilston Music Club, held in the Carden Arms, Tilston, near Malpas on Wednesday 4 November, starting at 8-30pm. Admission is £6.00. Wednesday Nov 4: the usual first Wednesday of the month Boat Band night at the Greyhound in Penkhull. Guest singers and musicians very welcome as always. Next week, Wed 11, the Mystery Singers are resuming rehearsal. Run by Greg and Kate from the Boat Band, they rehearse once a week in November and December and go out round the pubs of Penkhull before Christmas. They sing ancient carols, wassails and things of that nature. On Wed 11, they will be meeting at the Ceram Institute in Someone (he thought we were called the Secret Singers) filmed us a bit last year, practicing in the village hall and singing out in the White Lion....so here is a reminder.
