Lymm Folk Club Weekly News
23-02-2011

LAST WEEK :
Singers Night at the Spread Eagle… 24 performers in total, 10 of whom missed out on the second round, sorry! We had a surprise visit from Jon Brindley (well, I was surprised, because he'd been sitting behind me for half an hour and I hadn't noticed!!), who finished the evening off for us with 'Spanish Lady' and some pretty nifty guitar playing! He's on our 'Wish List' for 2012.

THIS WEEK:
Tom Kitching and Gren Bartley (Thursday 24th February, Spread Eagle), tickets still available.

SATURDAY LUNCHTIME:
If anyone is at a loose end on Saturday, and fancies downing a few pints with a folk music accompaniment, meet me on Manchester Piccadilly Station at 11.30am (train leaves at 11.45) - see attached PDF for more info. There is no scheduled return time, so it's a little different from the usual Folk Train arrangements.

I'll be singing and playing on the train en route to Chinley, then we make our way to the Old Hall Inn Winter Ale Festival where I'll be singing and playing in the pub for a couple of hours or so. The reason why there's no return trip scheduled is because the pub want people to stay and drink until they fall over...!

Although there isn't an official plan to sing and play on the return trip, if enough folkies choose to return on the same train it may well happen!

NEXT WEEK:
Singers Night… PLEASE NOTE! WE ARE AT THE SARACEN'S HEAD, WARBURTON!

FOR YOUR DIARY:
Tickets are also on sale for Roy Clinging (Thursday 10th March, Spread) and our St. Patrick's Special with Tony Gibbons and friends (Thursday 17th March, Rugby Club).

If in doubt, download the RTF: http://www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk/lymm_where.rtf

Don't forget a saving can be made by booking your tickets in advance - use our online forms http://www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk/lymm_tickets.html which you can submit either by post (details on the form) or by email. MAILING LIST:
If you know anyone who wishes to be on our mailing list, simply forward this email to them, ask them to contact me on mailto:list@lymmfolkclub.org.uk, and I'll add them. The group is 'closed', which means only real people added or invited by me may become members. 'Spam Bots' and the like cannot add themselves and cause trouble. Richard Peach (of Nelson Peach) is also an administrator of the group, which is a precaution in case I'm indisposed for any reason.
