| We change the mood and musical geography tomorrow evening when our special guest is Nashville based folk singer DIANA JONES, whose fine songs and distinctive voice are attracting much attention. Many will be familiar with her through 2009's splendid double bill with Slaid Cleaves when we enjoyed the good fortune of Diana's appearance on Jools Holland's show the night before the gig. As with Mary Gauthier the issue of adoption has acted as a springboard for her work, with the search for her birth parents seeing the development of her love affair with Appalachian 'mountain music'. Her admirers include Richard Thompson who has twice asked Diana to accompany his solo tours. There is very much a female theme with support coming from Shropshire trio FLAXENBY with their beautiful mix of guitar, fiddle and mandolin topped by the wonderful voice of Sam McLeod. This should be another cracking evening in what has already been a tremendous season of music. Weds Nov 2 @ The Biddulph Arms 8pm Admission £12 Tel 01782-514896 Next week's MARTYN JOSEPH gig (Nov 9) has now reached the 'SOLD OUT' stage in the cramped but atmospheric confines of The Biddulph Arms. It may be still worthwhile to leave your name and contact number with Eric just in case of cancellations. Conversely if you are on the list and are unable to come please let us know asap. The last gig in November (23rd) features another fabulous voice....that of EMILY SMITH , appearing this time with her band. Hope to see you at one of these shows. Www.biddulphupinarms.com | ||
