Lymm Folk Club Weekly News

LAST WEEK:
Kerry Smith, the senior winner of this year's Lymm Festival Songwriting Competition, was our Singers Night Big Spot at the Spread Eagle. He gave us a wide variety of songs, including some of his own, some written by others, and a few traditional songs, too. As we've come to expect, the 19 performers before the break raised the bar, giving Kerry a tough act to follow - but he didn't disappoint!
THIS WEEK:
Singers Night at the RUGBY CLUB (sorry about last week's error!). Sing, play or simply listen!! We're always guaranteed a wide range of styles, and the standard is high! If you fancy having a go, then don't hold back, go for it! If you don't fancy a go, nobody will force you - just relax and enjoy!
NEXT WEEK:
Grand New Season Opening Night on September 8th at the Rugby Club with... B O B F O X !
Visit http://www.bobfoxmusic.com/ for more info!
Do make sure you have your tickets for this really popular performer! As we're at the Rugby Club, we'll try not to turn anyone away - but why take the risk of having to stand up throughout the concert when you can reserve your ticket and save a couple of quid into the bargain?! We interviewed Bob live by telephone on Sounds of Folk, Oldham Community Radio 99.7fm on Monday - if you missed it, why not visit the Listen Online page (http://www.podcast.canstream.co.uk/oldham/) - you can 'Listen Again' or download an MP3 podcast if you like!
FOR YOUR DIARY:
Other guest nights coming up over the next few weeks:
Please Note: September 22nd should have been a guest night with Dave Pugh, but he's had to postpone his visit, new date still to be arranged. However, you will be delighted to know that Mark Dowding has stepped in at short notice!
At the end of September, Gloria Collins will be our 'Big Spot' (29th), and in October we have Brian Peters (6th) and Bandersnatch (20th)...
Lymm Festival Folk Events 2012 open on Thursday 28th June with Mundy-Turner at the Spread Eagle, and Zoƫ Mulford is closing for us a week later!
If in doubt, download the RTF: http://www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk/lymm_where.rtf
TICKETS:
Don't forget a saving can be made by booking your tickets in advance - use our online forms http://www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk/lymm_tickets.html - you can submit either by post (details on the form) or by email. Cheques to be made payable to Bernard Cromarty, or ask for my bank details if you prefer to use online banking.
LOST TICKETS:
It hasn't happened yet
but, in case it does, when you purchase a ticket I record your name against the ticket(s) you have bought in a spreadsheet. I have my laptop with me on club nights, so I can easily check which tickets you've booked, so don't panic! More to the point, if someone tries to use your missing ticket, I will know! Hee hee!
MAILING LIST:
If you know anyone who wishes to be on our mailing list, simply forward this email to them, ask them to contact me on mailto:list@lymmfolkclub.org.uk, and I'll add them. The group is 'closed', which means only real people added or invited by me may become members. 'Spam Bots' and the like cannot add themselves and cause trouble. Richard Peach (of Nelson Peach) is also an administrator of the group, which is a precaution in case I'm indisposed for any reason.
As we need to reverse the downward trend in guest night attendances, we are looking to at least double the number of 'subscribers' receiving our weekly newsletter before the start of the new season in September. We do not wish to be accused of spamming, but would be grateful if you could forward this newsletter on to one or more people in your address book - only if you think it's appropriate, of course! Thank you.
UNSUBSCRIBING?
If you are wondering how you ended up on this list, and wish to 'unsubscribe', there is a link at the bottom of this message - and please accept my sincerest apologies.
