| ** Please feel free to forward this message to anyone whom you think may wish to be added to our mailing list ** LAST WEEK: Mark Dowding was our first guest in the newly redecorated Function Room at the Spread Eagle! The evening started with songs from Stewart and Nelson Peach. Mark's first set was a great mix of humour, pathos, new and old - and we had more in the second half after our 'pre-raffle-ite' Alan Grace! THIS WEEK: Singers Night BIG SPOT with Gloria Collins and friends at the Spread. It's a Singers Night until the break, then Gloria takes over! Sing, play or simply listen for the first 'half'!! We're always guaranteed a wide range of styles, and the standard is high, especially when it's a 'Big Spot' night!! If you fancy having a go, then don't hold back, go for it! If you don't fancy a go, nobody will force you - just relax and enjoy! After the break, sit back and be entertained royally by Gloria Collins and friends! You're guaranteed an excellent evening's entertainment! Who needs 'big names' when we've singers of this quality in our own club?! It will be a cracking night! NEXT WEEK: Brian Peters at the Rugby Club, 6th October. Brian (http://www.brian-peters.co.uk) probably needs no introduction for most of you, and a great evening's entertainment is guaranteed. If you're a 'box player', then Brian's skill on melodeon and Anglo concertina can't fail to impress - but he sings great songs, some trad, some new, and accompanies himself rather tidily on guitar, too! Save a couple of quid by booking in advance! FOR YOUR DIARY: Other guest nights coming up over the next few weeks: We have the welcome return of Bandersnatch (http://www.bandersnatch.org.uk) on 20th October at the Spread, and in November, Fil Campbell and Tom McFarland (3rd, Spread - http://www.filcampbell.com), Chris & Siobhan Nelson (17th, Spread - http://www.chrisandsiobhan.co.uk) and a Big Spot from Sandra Martin & Phil Robinson (24th, Spread - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb6AsZQE1kU). Do let your friends know, because we need an audience to be able to carry on bringing these high quality guests to Lymm! Change of plans for Lymm Festival Folk Events 2012 - we open on Thursday 28th June, but we don't yet have a confirmed guest, as Mundy-Turner have been forced to cancel their tour as 'the sums don't add up'... A shame, but it's down to the Australian dollar against the pound, so we hope to see them in the future if things pick up. Watch this space! If in doubt, download the RTF: http://www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk/lymm_where.rtf TICKETS: Don't forget a saving can be made by booking your tickets in advance - use our online forms http://www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk/lymm_tickets.html - you can submit either by post (details on the form) or by email. Cheques to be made payable to Bernard Cromarty, or ask for my bank details if you prefer to use online banking. LOST TICKETS: It hasn't happened yet. But, in case it does, when you purchase a ticket I record your name against the ticket(s) you have bought in a spreadsheet. I have my laptop with me on club nights, so I can easily check which tickets you've booked, so don't panic! More to the point, if someone tries to use your missing ticket, I will know! Hee hee! MAILING LIST: If you know anyone who wishes to be on our mailing list, simply forward this email to them, ask them to contact me on mailto:list@lymmfolkclub.org.uk, and I'll add them. The group is 'closed', which means only real people added or invited by me may become members. 'Spam Bots' and the like cannot add themselves and cause trouble. Richard Peach (of Nelson Peach) is also an administrator of the group, which is a precaution in case I'm indisposed for any reason. TTFN Bernard 01204 571167 www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk | ||
