Anniversary concert and other September gigs

We kick off the Autumn season tomorrow (Sept 7) with an important event for us as September 2011 marks 25 years of Biddulph Folk Club/Up In Arms. In order to celebrate, Eric has invited singers who appeared on the first night or who have since performed as club residents. So all being well the evening should include Rod Eckersley, Bill Durose, Sue Wyatt, Phil Brightman, John Stoker, Dave Hughes, Winston Baldwin, Dennis Quinn, Colin Jacklin, Sue Capper aswell as duos Chris and Ciaran Algar, Liz (Beth) Holland and Jeff Parton and a 'surprise' guest appearance by His Worship and the Pig. If time allows we should also hear current 'writer-in-residence' Graham Dawson, currently busy recording his first solo cd. The venue is again The Biddulph Arms, admission is at the 1986 price of £1.50 and the start time is 8pm. Parking might be tricky with roadworks along Congleton Road so you may wish to arrive a few minutes earlier.

Lovely to see so many familiar faces at The Shrewsbury Folk Festival and artist wise, Martyn Joseph, Spiers and Boden, Flaxenby and hopefully Brooks Williams should all be appearing here over the next year. Before that we have the great Texas singer-songwriter Slaid Cleaves (Sept 21) and the mammoth All Along the Wall project (Sept 24). More on those shows later.
