Dabbers, Concerts and Festivals

Dear All,
Just a reminder that Dabbers monthly session is this Thursday (5th) at The Riflemans Pub in James Hall Street Nantwich....and Bernard is bringing the CD of recorded interviews we did for the Rocky Top Radio Show with Terry Earl Taylor for Red Shift Radio. http://www.redshiftradio.co.uk/rockytop.htm
Folk icons Fairport Convention plus Pete Shirley and Nigel Beck appear at Middlewich Royal British Legion on May 20th Fairports'new album 'Festival Bell' keps them firmly at the top of the folk profession.
Dick Gaughan and Andy Cutting plus Greg Russell are at Middlewich
Civic Hall on May 21st. An irresistible double headliner of two of Britains' finest folk musicians, with support from Greg Russell.
Dick Gaughan is a Scottish musician and singer whose feet are planted
in the soil and grit of the working man and traditional music; who includes Karl Marx, Groucho
Marx, John Lennon, and Vladimir Illych Lenin amongst his influences; and whose deep voice resonates like the echo in a miners pit. Just the man to voice the feelings of a conned recession hit society and raise some fiery passions.
Andy Cutting is a rarity. A musician's musician: a soulful and technically outstanding melodeon practitioner. "In my musical life I've been lucky to work with a few musicians that I would call a genius, Andy Cutting without a doubt is one of these people. He is not only a true master of his instrument but a very inspiring musician to play with and be around. I've learned loads just by listening & watching Andy play. To top it all off, you couldn't meet a nicer fella." John McCuske

Folk Set In Sandstones' opening concert at Bickerton was FANTASTIC ! Lovely venue and audience. Next time I will bring even more real ale .... Here's a photo of Zinney on stage from Jon Tarplee of The Blue Yellows who also played a great acoustic set in the pre concert warm up.
Next concert at Bickerton is June 11 with Rune who play Anglo French Celtic music and include Cheshire exile Chris Dawson on flute and mandolin.
Chris you may recall for his fine musicianship in his Cheshire heydays with 'Chew The Roots'. Also in the line up is Cindy Pascher whose family are noted for their collection and preservation of French traditional music, and on fiddle the up and coming Camille Raibaud. Runes' world music percussionist Hopi Hopkins is unable to attend this concert. Chris also plays with one of the top bands in France, Keltiac.
Please do come and support Chris who is looking forward to seeing his old Cheshire folk friends.
Support comes from close harmony trio VOCAL POINT who include John and Angie Owen of the
Hungy Horse Folk Club and Wirral Folk on The Coast Festival. You will love their gentle interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk songs, along with their 'a capella' songs.
Sorry there will be no afternoon session in this lovely venue this time.......use it or lose it. We will open around 6.30pm..
