Subject: Fw: A Date for Your Diary!!

Hi Everyone

The long awaited Music Hall/Variety Night is now in its planning stages.

We have a date! It looks like being the 1st October 2011, so stick it in your diary. Venue yet to be confirmed.

This event will be a little different to the others we have done in that we hope to actually put on a 'Show' rather than just a string of performers. It is going to take a lot of planning and, like all of these things, timing is everything.

So, a little nudge to those who have shown interest in 'doing a turn', can you start to give a little thought to what you are going to do and, importantly, how long a spot you need.  Although it is planned as a mainly Music Hall act, your act can be almost anything – Music Hall, Magic, Escapology, Knife Throwing, Monologues, Dance, Unicycling, even singing if you want. All we are looking for at the moment are names and numbers and some idea of how long an appearance on stage you need, whether you want to do one or two spots.

This is going to be a very slick production (said with tongue very firmly held in cheek) and will need some rehearsal and careful planning. We hope to give everyone a stab, if your performance is not thought to be up to scratch, you may get more than one stab, probably in the neck!

There will be no opportunity for floor spots on the night, so if you are up for it, we need to know now.

This, like the other events we have done, is all for charity, details to follow.

We will send another email within the next ten days, in the meantime, could any potential performers please let us know of your interest, and bag yourself a spot.

Cheers

Steve

For Press Info, This is the 7th Annual Charity Fundraising St Georges Day event run by landlord Phil Strong. Ticket sales go to help Harry and his family with any special equipment, accommodation or travel costs depending on Harry's needs.
Thank you to everyone who has bought tickets to see the bands at the Bulls Head, headlined by RADIO MARY and also with  BEEKER & THE TEMPERENCE SOCIETY BLUES BAND.  But all tickets have now been sold and entry is by ticket only on this very special occasion.

Dear music lover,

On Friday 13th May the "Shabbs" supported by the terrific "Reprobates" are providing an evening of musical entertainment at:

"The Cock Inn"
Hanbury
Tutbury, Derbyshire.

Shabbs ~ Seven piece band presently recording second album as a follow-up to the very successful "North Street" album. This band has a very wide range of materials and influences and benefits from the writing skills of all seven members.

Reprobates ~ A great combo playing a wide range of covers to suit all musical tastes; this outfit host the very successful "chicken shack" open-mike sessions held monthly at the "Cock Inn"

This will be an excellent night out for all in a great pub, in a great location with great beers on tap.

Hope you can come along and support this great event.

Best wishes

Mike

Subject: 'Have a go' music and dance session in Chester.

Hi,
I am trying to notify as many people as possible so could you please forward this to musicians, dancers and callers on your mailing list. Apologies if you get this more than once, I won't send anything else unless you ask to be on the Have a Go mailing list. I know that for some of you it will be too far, or you'll be too busy. But someone you pass this on to might be interested.

Dancers, musicians, and callers are invited to a music and dance session in Chester.

Beginners and experts welcome. We are calling it "Have A Go". So come and do what you already do, and have a go at something new.
The idea is to play dance tunes, then dance to them. With anyone who wants to call choosing dances of any sort - English ceilidh style, Playford, American squares and contras, Welsh or Scottish... whatever.
Similar to the French session that happens on the first Monday of the month, but more varied.

The first session will be Thursday 19th May from 8pm
at Chester Deaf Centre Southview Road Chester Cheshire CH14JG
If this becomes a regular Third Thursday event we will build up a repertoire of tunes and a tunebook that those who prefer to play from the dots can print out. Marilyn has a book of tunes for her Black Cat Band that I can email to you as an Adobe file. But I thought for the first meeting we might stick to the sort of tunes everyone plays in sessions. Then if callers tell me which tunes they want I can give you an idea of which you need to print out for which session. I don't intend to print out dozens of copies of all 48 pages. If anyone has a good tune to include in our repertoire, tell me. Or any other ideas.

Please pass on the word to anyone who might be interested
It would be helpful to know how many might be coming and whether you dance, play or call. If anyone has a good tune to include in our repertoire, tell me. Or any other ideas.

First night would be free, after that a suggested donation of £2 to cover the cost of the room etc.

Please pass this on, and let me know if you'd like to be kept informed. Cheers,
Mo
