Lymm Folk Club Weekly News 02-02-2011 February… already!! LAST WEEK : Kath, Stan and Ruth provided us with an excellent first 'Big Spot' of the year! We also had 25 singers and musicians, but time ran out, so apologies to Eddie, Alan and Dave who didn't get a turn... Next time you visit on a Singers Night, you'll get two songs each on the first round to compensate!! A 'Big Spot' is an opportunity for club regulars to perform more songs/tunes than a Singers Night will normally allow. As far as possible they will occur on or near the last Thursday of every other month - January, March, May, July, September and November. Apart from a slight hiccup from February to March to fit in St. Patrick's Night, we should alternate guests and singers pretty much all throughout the year. You may still have a few hours to catch last Thursday's 'Folkscene' on BBC Radio Merseyside's 'Listen Again' - Geoff Speed interviewed me about taking over Lymm Folk Club… http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/p00d52kv/Folkscene_27_01_2011 - if you've missed it, ask me and I'll see what I can do... THIS WEEK: Dai Thomas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQRqorCwG-0 - spookily, it was recorded exactly three years ago!) will be at the Rugby Club on February 3rd - make sure you don't miss this living legend!! Although tickets are on sale, this won't be a 'ticket only' event. For future reference, though, it's cheaper if you book in advance! NEXT WEEK: Stewart's 'Back From Fuerteventura' Charity Night is at the Spread Eagle on Thursday 10th February - again, you won't need a ticket, but advance bookings are cheaper! Come on, let's make this one a sell-out!
