Lymm Folk Club Weekly News

February
already!!
LAST WEEK :
Kath, Stan and Ruth provided us with an excellent first 'Big Spot' of the year! We also had 25 singers and musicians, but time ran out, so apologies to Eddie, Alan and Dave who didn't get a turn... Next time you visit on a Singers Night, you'll get two songs each on the first round to compensate!!
A 'Big Spot' is an opportunity for club regulars to perform more songs/tunes than a Singers Night will normally allow. As far as possible they will occur on or near the last Thursday of every other month - January, March, May, July, September and November. Apart from a slight hiccup from February to March to fit in St. Patrick's Night, we should alternate guests and singers pretty much all throughout the year.
You may still have a few hours to catch last Thursday's 'Folkscene' on BBC Radio Merseyside's 'Listen Again' - Geoff Speed interviewed me about taking over Lymm Folk Club
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/p00d52kv/Folkscene_27_01_2011 - if you've missed it, ask me and I'll see what I can do...
THIS WEEK:
Dai Thomas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQRqorCwG-0 - spookily, it was recorded exactly three years ago!) will be at the Rugby Club on February 3rd - make sure you don't miss this living legend!! Although tickets are on sale, this won't be a 'ticket only' event. For future reference, though, it's cheaper if you book in advance!
NEXT WEEK:
Stewart's 'Back From Fuerteventura' Charity Night is at the Spread Eagle on Thursday 10th February - again, you won't need a ticket, but advance bookings are cheaper! Come on, let's make this one a sell-out!
FOR YOUR DIARY:
Tickets are also on sale for Tom Kitching and Gren Bartley (Thursday 24th February), Roy Clinging (Thursday 10th March) and our St. Patrick's Special with Tony Gibbons and friends (Thursday 17th March).
If in doubt, download the RTF: http://www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk/lymm_where.rtf
TICKETS:
Don't forget a saving can be made by booking your tickets in advance - use our online forms http://www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk/lymm_tickets.html which you can submit either by post (details on the form) or by email. Cheques to be made payable to Bernard Cromarty, or ask for my bank details if you prefer online banking.
WISH LIST:
Please be thinking about five guests you may wish to see at the club in the future - I will be looking for your feedback on forms only available at the club (Singers Nights), and creating a 'wish list' for 2012 and beyond based upon that feedback. It's your club, so have your say!
I've had some submissions which weren't on forms - that's not a problem, as long as you get your say! Keep them coming!
MAILING LIST:
If you know anyone who wishes to be on our mailing list, simply forward this email to them, ask them to contact me on mailto:list@lymmfolkclub.org.uk, and I'll add them. The group is 'closed', which means only real people added or invited by me may become members. 'Spam Bots' and the like cannot add themselves and cause trouble. Richard Peach (of Nelson Peach) is also an administrator of the group, which is a precaution in case I'm indisposed for any reason.
UNSUBSCRIBING?
If you are wondering how you ended up on this list, and wish to 'unsubscribe', there is a link at the bottom of this message - and please accept my sincerest apologies.
