Lymm Folk Club Weekly News
19-01-2011? Erm
20-01-2011!!
Sorry this is a little late, folks, but I've been over to Widnes chatting with Geoff Speed about the club and stuff, which could well be aired on BBC Radio Merseyside 'Folkscene' next Thursday (27th). We have such a lot in common that we were nattering on and on and on
then the M62 was very foggy and icy, so I've only been home for around twenty minutes.
But you didn't want to know that, did you?!
Here y'go, then!
LAST WEEK :
Singers Night at the Spread Eagle, run ably by Rick Nelson, saw a visit from lIdánach - a stunning new band made up of ex-Garva men John and Liam Murphy, and Kevin Webster, plus Fiona McConnell and Chris Boland. We'll see them again at Christmas! We had 25 performers in total, and almost managed to get around twice - apologies to the three who missed out, but we just had to finish the night with another set from lIdánach!!
THIS WEEK:
Our guests are Scolds Bridle (Liz and Sue) at the Rugby Club... If you haven't yet seen Liz and Sue, you're in for a treat! If you have, then the treat continues! Don't worry if you haven't bought a ticket, as there's plenty of room at the Rugby Club - just turn up on the night!
NEXT WEEK:
Our first Big Spot of the year - from Kath, Stan and Ruth on January 27th. We plan to have a Big Spot around the last Thursday of every other month - January, March, May, July, September and November. Apart from a slight hiccup from February to March to fit in St. Patrick's Night, we should alternate guests and singers pretty much all throughout the year.
NEXT GUEST:
Dai Thomas will be at the Rugby Club on February 3rd - make sure you don't miss this living legend!!
If in doubt, download the RTF: http://www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk/lymm_where.rtf
TICKETS:
Don't forget a saving can be made by booking your tickets in advance - use our online forms http://www.lymmfolkclub.org.uk/lymm_tickets.html which you can submit either by post (details on the form) or by email. Cheques to be made payable to Bernard Cromarty, or ask for my bank details if you prefer online banking.
WISH LIST:
Please be thinking about five guests you may wish to see at the club in the future - I will be looking for your feedback on forms only available at the club (Singers Nights), and creating a 'wish list' for 2012 and beyond based upon that feedback. It's your club, so have your say!
I've had some submissions which weren't on forms - that's not a problem, as long as you get your say! Keep them coming!
MAILING LIST:
If you know anyone who wishes to be on our mailing list, simply forward this email to them, ask them to contact me on list@lymmfolkclub.org.uk, and I'll add them. The group is 'closed', which means only real people added or invited by me may become members. 'Spam Bots' and the like cannot add themselves and cause trouble. Richard Peach (of Nelson Peach) is now an administrator of the group, which is a precaution in case I'm indisposed for any reason.
UNSUBSCRIBING?
If you are wondering how you ended up on this list, and wish to 'unsubscribe', there is a link at the bottom of this message - and please accept my sincerest apologies.
