ROMPING DONKEY

I have set up a session in the Romping Donkey for alternate Mondays, starting at around 8.15pm. The landlady has agreed to lay on a few sandwiches for the musicians. If it is a success, I plan on running is every other week.

I hope you can make it. Can you pass the work around your musician circle please. If I can get a good number to the first session, then the chances of a reasonable turnout at subsequent events will be that much greater.

Cheers

WORDS AND MUSIC FESTIVAL Nantwich

Mark Radcliffe and

The Big Figures

WORDS AND MUSIC NANTWICH inconjunction with Scrumptillious Cakes and Catering present the legendary radio and TV presenter/writer/musician MARK RADCLIFFE in an all new show.

"Cupcakes And Outtakes" at the Crown Ballroom, will open Words And Music 2010, and is very definitely set to be a show of two halves.

Mark will open proceedings with a world preview of sections from his forthcoming book "Reeling In The Years", which is to be published in Spring 2011. During and immediately after the reading, locallybased company Scrumptillious Cupcakes will be on hand to enhance theproceedings with the uniquely delicious ware for which their fame is rapidly spreading!

Then after cupcakes have been duly savoured by all, a brief interval been taken - and, one anticipates, beer been consumed - Mark will take to the stage for the second half of the show, "Blues and Booze" with his new band The Big Figures, who promise to rock the proverbial joint with a bracing blast of bluesy rock, described as being in the manner of Dr Feelgood (from whose erstwhile drummer they take their name).

Truly a unique opening for this year's festival. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Poets at the Players Theatre with

Paul Farley, Danny Chivers and Tracey Browne

Words and Music Festival Nantwichpresents a trio of poets to entertain and delight.

PAUL FARLEY is an award winning English poet, who has been a significant presence in UK writing since his debut collection "The Boy From The Chemist Is Here To See You' was nominated for a Whitbread prize in 1998. The collection also gained him the coveted Somerset Maugham Award.

In 1999 he won the Sunday Times Young Writer Of The Year award, and his second collection "The Ice Age" won the Whitbread Prize in 2002. His latest collection "Tramp In Flames" was published in 2006, and he was recently named as one of the Poetry Book Society's Next Generation Poets.

DANNY CHIVERS is a fast rising eco-themed performance poet from Oxford with a razor wit and an impassioned yet self deprecating mode of delivery. His roof-raising appearances at the first Words And Music Festival in 2008 have ensured regular requests for a return visit and we are thrilled to welcome him back to the Words And Music Festival.

TRACEY BROWNE is an emerging Cambridge born singer/songwriter who has been gigging constantly throughout Europe and the UK this summer and is currently recording her debut album.
